i think it will...how dark do u plan on tinting them. show me a pic of that ive never seen tinted headlights. i dont see why it would be a problem cuz when u tint ur tailights u can see light out of them fine.

Re: smoking outside lens of headlights?? help!
well i cant find the pics but this 1 guy has a red coupe and said he did 1 clear + black paint coat done on headlights and fogs and then 2 coats on the tails
and it looked sooo nice. But he did say that he had stock lights and it was a little dim so he was going to upgrade to HID
but still idk..

Re: smoking outside lens of headlights?? help!
i mean..i dono. i dont see why it would affect light output that much. and if it does...go get set of new bulbs if u dont wana upgrade to HIDs...u know what u shoudl do...try it on a spare set of headlights...just so u dont f&*% anything up. attach em drive aorund and see how bad it is...if ur happy keep em and sell the ones u have back to somebody to get some money back.

Re: smoking outside lens of headlights?? help!
ya they do have different colors, ...but thats not what i want to do.
i want to take my headlights to a shop and have the guy there PAINT them a tint/smoke color...so that u can still see inside the headlight but it looks smoked
AND then have my tails smoked as in painted as well to match

Re: smoking outside lens of headlights?? help!
If you're wanting directions on how to smoke them, here's how.
Set your oven to 350 and put them in there for 30 minutes. No, seriously, here's how:
Go to your local craft store. Lots of them carry tinting spray in their model car section for tinting the "glass" on model cars. The only thing is they come in the small cans. I recommend purchasing two. From there, so to an auto parts store and get auto grade clear coat (you can get it in a spray can if you'd like, but I prefer to use it in my HVLP gun). (Technically, an automotive painting supply place could make you some tinting spray by adding two or three drops of black into the clearcoat, but the one around here wanted an arm and two legs to do it, money wise. I did a second set after the first ones because I wanted them to match the vehicle perfectly. I got them to add a few drops of NHBP paint to the clear the second time, bit the bullet and paid their price. It matched perfectly). Anyway, Once you have the tinting spray and the clear coat, take your headlights off and lightly most a coat onto the outside of the lens (I used about 1 can per tail when I did the tails on the Civic before I sold it). Keep spraying on light coats until you have the desired tint. (I think I ended up doing 8 light coats on the tails). This ensures that you have no runs doing the super light coats. You have to hold it a little closer than normal spray paint, as it tends to get real thin at a short distance, and you waste a lot of product. Once the final coat completely dries, DO NOT SAND. Aply one thin coat of clear, wait for 25 minutes until it begins to tack and spray another light coat on there, do this three coats deep. From there, wet sand with 800-1000 grit paper until you have a smooth surface (do not sand through the clear coat as you'll have light spots in the tint). Dry completely (I recommend using an air nozzle on your compressor to ensure complete drying. After it's dry, wipe down with a tack cloth to remove any additional debris from sanding(the particles you can't really see). After wiping with a tack cloth, repeat spraying with clear for 5 more light coats. Let it dry and wet sand with 2000 grit paper. From here, you want to dry and blow off any debris with your air nozzle. Then apply a coat of polishing compound, and buff really well. From there, you can wax the lens one time to add the shine to them (make sure you completely remove any wax or polishing compound as you'll bake it ont the lens when you run your headlights the first time. Presto, you now have tinted headlights (or tails).

Re: smoking outside lens of headlights?? help!
I no longer own the car, and I did the tails on it. It worked well, and it's still actually on the car last time I saw it. Looked as good as the day I did it. I've done headlights for friends with HID's, and they weren't darkened too much. Good thing is they stopped getting flashed when they were driving around because the headlights weren't as bright to oncoming traffic any more.

They'll be plenty bright enough. Lots brighter than stock unless you go super dark tinting (which doesn't sound like the case). But yes, they'll be brighter than stock still.
