So i did my timing belt today...I swore up and and down at the crank pulley bolt
So my IR Titanium 1000 ft.lbs in reverse didn't even budge the damn bolt. i had to stand on a breaker bar to get it to come off. Other then that its a gravy job, also replaced front crank seal and front camshaft seal, new tensioner and water pump, and replaced valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals.

oh and my alternator drive belt had a hole eaten in it

I paid $670 out the door with following replaced: timing belt, tensioner, crank & camshaft seals, waterpump, valvecover gasket & both drive belts. Not bad considering local shops quoted $850 without tensioner.

My belts dont even have cracks perhaps just the minor wear on them after 110k miles its worth it.

I was wondeing, my car is almost 8 years old with 80 000k in it, should i be changing the belt?

I know that they recomment changing it at 100 or 110 k but what about the age of the car?

I would wait til you get 110k miles. I did. It was worth the wait. Ill have my timing belt done at 220k miles again.

the front seals are a cake job, both sprockets just slide off, and with a seal removal tool (i used a hooked pick and a small screwdriver) to pull out the old seals, just becareful and don't gouge the medal surface of the head or block that can cause leaks, pull off old seals and slide on and tap in new seals, i used a large socket to put crankshaft front seal on.

also make note of how the belt guide behind the crankshaft pulley goes.

depending on your weather climate really, extreme heat or cold has affect on the timing belt life. i only had 85k on my original timing belt but it was 9 years old so i replaced it.

the old belt i pulled off didn't look bad, but to check to see if it is in a good condition you have to do all the steps the same as you would to replace it
