Post Pairing to Phone

I have an old 13th century phone. A Flip phone. I had a 2013 Honda Civic which got totaled. That car would read the phone - not the SIM card for names and numbers. I now have a 2014 Honda Civic. I cannot seem to get this phone to read anything off my phone. I know it is paired properly because I have the icon on the car display and on my phone. When I start I get the beep to tell me it is paired.
Can the car connect to this old phone, or I am doing something wrong?

Thanks

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
