EMERGENCY: Water in the engine!!!!

My kid has a CAI and went through some deep water. The local Honda STEALERSHIP wants ~$10,000 for a new engine.

Can anyone recommend a reputable shop in HOUSTON that I can have the car towed to? Thanks guys!

Re: EMERGENCY: Water in the engine!!!!

also post on 8thcivic.com they are more 8thgen oriented and we are mostly 7thgen. im sure you can find a cheap engine on ebay or junkyard to swap in. which car do you have, the dx/lx/ex or the SI? the si motor is gonna cost you a ton more.

Re: EMERGENCY: Water in the engine!!!!

Ouch man. You might be able to salvage it. Is it hydrolocked? Is it knocking?

You don't have comprehensive insurance on a 2007 SI?

Re: EMERGENCY: Water in the engine!!!!

To all of your questions: the dealership took out the plugs and turned the engine over. No water came out, but water can still be seen inside the chambers.

Regarding insurance, I have insurance out the a$$. But, I have a $1500 deductible and do NOT want another claim on my policy for fear of my rates going up for the next three years.

I believe it would be less expensive to repair it using a local shop. Right now, I'm looking at Carboys here in town.

Re: EMERGENCY: Water in the engine!!!!

good luck man. dealerships are usually not very nice to cover water damage. but hopefully you find somewhere to do it for reasonable cost.
