i need help removing my mirror assy.
i hit a trashcan in my parking lot at work yesterday lol. it didnt do any cosmetic damage to the paint, and the motors in it still work fine. i just need help taking it off, so i can put it back on again if that makes sense. it's just a little bit loose, as if it came unscrewed from a screw. it shakes back and forth a tiny bit as i hit higher speeds (40+) and its just really annoying. anybody got any help for how to remove this whole assembly? i have a coupe auto LX
heres the good/intact right side mirror:
heres the bad/broken left side mirror:
^^ you can see the tiny gap between the dor and the doorframe in that pic, but its still larger than normal

Re: i need help removing my mirror assy.
Mine is a 2006 LX sedan, and mounts a little differently. There are 3 bolts that mount the assembly to the door. I hit a hen turkey at 70 mph and broke my mirror off. The bolts were fine, but the plastic base which they go through got sheared off. I'll bet you cracked the base in one or two of the bolt locations.
I held mine on with packing tape until I could get a replacement from an on-line parts dealer. Think it was autopartswholesale.com. Dealer will want a boatload of money for the mirror. I did not bother to buy the painted mirror. I got a black, power mirror for 50 bucks. Tricky part is replacing it. You have to take the doorskin off to do it. Make sure you get the power cord back where it belongs or it will keep your window from going all the way down. You could always try mighty putty.
