Bought new, car has 2200 miles. Not driven hard at all.
Intermittently - doesn't seem to matter weather, or temperature - the car won't start on the first try... turns over, runs for a second, and dies. Then it starts fine on the second try, no problems. I have also have had it do this after sitting for a few minutes after a short trip.
It feels like the car is starving itself of fuel for some reason on that first try.
I took it to the dealer, they pulled the codes and said nothing was wrong.
I am *not* a mechanic, so suggestions, as I'm about to take it back to the dealer again.

sounds like an idle air valve issue. if the car starts, but then the rpm drops enough to shut down the engine, thats my guess. have you tried to press the gas right after starting to see if that keeps it from dying? it almost sounds like vapor lock lol

Don't you love how the dealers won't fix it unless there is a code? This is typical in the warranty practices. I had a friend who had same problem with his buick- he gave up and took it to a good local mechanic instead. They fixed it in no time. Let's keep it simple- are there any recalls that they are not telling you about? Have you recently gotten a hold of bad fuel? Some places have leaky gas tanks and water gets into them. My sister's chevy got it bad and she had to replace the injectors and tank. Try using dry gas and get some good fuel into it. Run for a week on good stuff and see what happens. The car is new so I bet it's bad gas.

i also remember an issue with the immobilizer system that would cause the car to shut down cause the fuel pump wasnt working.

Mine has done that a couple of times but not frequent. That's the problem with car dealers now a days. The only way they'll even look at it is if it's throwing a code or has a check engine light. In other words; unless there is a check engine light on of some sort, or there is a major break-down--they will not look at it and it's a complete waste of time. The problem is laziness doesn't allow them take the car on long a half hour test drive and at least show they care about the customer. Sadly the days of customer service at car dealers are gone. The only time they're willing to help is when you're buying.
