muffler recommendations I'm listening...?

Hey there all ...

going to need a muffer because my factory oem one is rusting away

and i found 2 small holes back in the fall of last year. which believe it

or not... managed to plug up using mighty puty.. ... don't laugh just Yet...

it actually worked..! at plugging up the holes .!! and surprisingly has held up.

but i found another rusted spot that i know is going to get noisy soon. so

I'm thinking come spring time, change it out with a muffler my Question is should

i stay with the Quality factory O.E.M or try a as good aftermarket one .??

if it exists..? anyone know of good aftermarket muffler as good as Hondas one

for my 2008 DX civic..??

Factory muffler should be stainless... find a better condition stock unit at a salvage yard?

No way. Aluminum can't rust.

Just for that I'm gonna wait til about Tuesday to reply.

No, I won't. LOL

I don' think there's any rule that says stainless must be super shiny or look like a kitchen countertop, much like chrome plating doesn't have to have a mirror finish either.

I think it's made of mostly stainless steel. They last a damn long time, I sure don't get to replace them and I'm in the rust belt.
For years I've heard most OEs went to stainless.....and now muffler shops are hurting because of it. They all want to do brakes and other somewhat simple services to generate cash flow.

Back in the 90s and earlier, muffler and exhaust work was real common, they rotted out about every 3 years for many people here.

If it were constructed of plain cheap sheetmetal, I'm sure it would have rotted away in 1-3 years.

Try sticking a magnet to it? Then compare your magnet sticking to real steel.

Yup ...! Ezone Your right about it being stanless steel I put a strong magnet

to the muffler and it stuck on. but didn't stick to the exhaust tip end though...?
