Hello all. I just got the wrench symbol and a warning saying 15% oil and a number B14. I do a lot of driving so it's not impossible and I was already going for a change this weekend. Perhaps they didn't reset the counter? Is this a friendly reminder? Still learning these new generation civics

It's time to make an appointment at the shop.


The Maintenance Minder system is thoroughly explained in your owners manual.

B = oil and filter
1 = rotate tires
4 = ?......look in your manual (spark plugs, and valve adjustment if needed).

Yes I'm almost at 100k. Was planning on doing my plugs as well.

The minder must be manually reset whenever service is performed.
If the last one forgot (or didn't know to) to reset it, then of course it comes up sooner than necessary.

The minder system has no way to directly monitor the condition of the actual oil in the engine, and it also assumes that proper oil that meets Hondas specifications is being used. (It can't tell if your engine has low quality oil in it or not.)


The minder watches driving conditions and adjusts the oil life countdown accordingly. I have seen them allow anywhere from 4000 to 10,000+ miles on an oil change, depending on how the car is driven.

Most of the other service reminders that pop up along with the oil change may happen near certain mileage ranges, like the plugs are expected to be replaced at around 100k.

Thank you, I expected that was probably the case. According to the windshield sticker, they did it at one of those oil change places. I'm the type that like to take my car to the dealership for oil changes. I will buy the spark plugs there and have my brother do them. He's a Honda guy himself and has always done my Civics in the past.
