Hi Everyone,

I am wondering if there is a formula as for when to sell your car to make the most out of it. I'd rather not keep a car more than 4 years. However, I can in first, second, or third year as well.

I have a Honda Civic 2009 and I see that I pretty much owe to the loan as much as the car is worth and I put down $5k initially - that is pretty much gone.

So, is there a sweet spot as to when sell your car and make the most out of it?

well, im not sure what you mean exactly. if you want the most benefit on your initial investment, then the answer is to keep the car as long as possible. the cost to maintain an older car will never come close to the high cost of switching new cars every 4 yrs. people should be keeping their cars for 10 yrs minimum.

Seems like civics usually attract more potential sellers when gas prices are heading upward. Sold my 06 LX for about a grand over high KBB a month ago, while gas was peaking.

Other than that its always good to emphasize "Cold A/C" during summer months (or year round where im at, lol)
