What does "Rebuilt" mean?
I know what it is to rebuild an engine and a transmission but why do people do it? What are the benefits of a rebuilt tranny and engine?

Rebuilding replaces all the old **** in your engine or tranny with new parts.It makes the engine or tranny more reliable.Out with the old,in with the new basically.Or you can rebuild with high performance parts for HP gains

Depends. Typically it would be because the engine had a failure that could not be repaired without a full rebuild, like a rod knock.

The theory behind it is not complicated. The actual rebuild is a bit more though.
