What kind of range do you get on your Civic on a single tank of fuel?
What kind of range do you get on your Civic on a single tank of fuel?
What kind of range do you typically get on your Civic on a single tank of fuel? I'm looking to compare against my 2010 Civic sedan. I only get about 260 to 280 miles with mixed highway and street driving with no traffic, but I'm told I should be getting over 300 miles.

It's on and off depending on temperature
I get anywhere from 290~400 miles with 1 tank of gas on a 2003 EX 2dr

It's strange though. It says here that I should be getting 330 to 475 miles per tank.

I get 550-600km per tank.

Are you guys measuring your range based on a projection past the moment the yellow low fuel indicator turns on? It usually turns on for me at 260 miles, and I believe I've used around 11ish gallons at that point.
Based on the 13.2 gallon fuel tank capacity and a worse scenario of 25 mpg EPA city rating, that would give me a conservative projection of another 50 miles.
That still puts me at 310 miles range, short of the advertised lower end of 330 miles range (city). Should I be concerned?

We've had... 4 threads on lower than advertised fuel economy I think?
There are a lot of factors in fuel economy, the condition of the engine, fluids, tires, suspension, weight of the driver, amount of gas in the tank, road, weather conditions, type of gas, speed... So I'd say if you averaging 310 miles per tank I wouldn't be concerned. If you did an oil and air filter change, running good quality gas, and drove very carefully you could probably match the 330 miles per tank.

I got about 300 and my light never even came on. I usually don't go by tank range though. At least not anymore. I go by average MPG. I don't run my tank below half in colder weather.

How do u not let your tank not go below full?
Isnt that impossible?
You drive a block and its not full anymore
U mean half full? XD

Re: What kind of range do you get on your Civic on a single tank of fuel?
I've been tracking MPG on my 07 EX since Dec '07 and the average (city/highway) is slightly under 31 miles per gallon overall. With a 13 gallon tank that's about 390 miles and the most I ever got was 430 before filling up again.
Re: What kind of range do you get on your Civic on a single tank of fuel?
My previous tank racked in a record low, 266. I live in the northeast and averaged about 21 mpg last tank(90% city/10%hwy). It was also the month where the temperatures dropped to 2˚F in the morning. And keeping the car outside in weather like that, obviously is not good for the engine... nothing I can do.

i drive from Philadephia, PA to Cleveland, OH on 1 tank of gas. now granted, towards the end of the trip the gas light comes on so i'm pushing the range close to the limit. that trip is roughly 400 miles
i've done that trip 4 times and everytime i calculate the MPG's it falls between 37mpg-39mpg. the highest MPG i've ever achieved was 39.8mpg. that was during a drive from Philadelphia, PA to Morgantown, WV
i have a 2003 Honda Civic Coupe LX, AT, with 95,000 miles. i use cruise control @ 60mph'ish on these kinds of trips

Re: What kind of range do you get on your Civic on a single tank of fuel?
I had an 07 civic coupe that had crappy mileage compared to my previous mazda protege...as in low 30's.
Now I got an 05 em2, mileage is better.
Hint hint, to get close to 500mi a tank try drafting behind trucks on the highway...stay within a 2-3 car lengths behind and watch you gas needle not move.
And remembering another thread I read...the new model civics...why on earth would Honda put a stupid, overly complicated, expensive hybrid system in a car to get another puny, measly, margin of error increase of @5mi/gallon? Stupid cooperate pandering to tree huggers!

04 ex I have gotten about 430 in the summer (was 39-41mpg), now is down to around 375-400 (35-38mpg) winter blend gas and cold weather to blame.

Also depends a lot on how you're driving it and if its an auto or manual.
Re: What kind of range do you get on your Civic on a single tank of fuel?
I'm in the same boat. I bought a used 06 EX Sedan and I get about 21 MPG which comes out to about 280 miles/tank.(I have an extremely light foot when driving) I'm worried something is wrong with the engine. How can I solve this problem? Should I just take it to a Honda Dealer and see what they think the problem is? Would it cost me anything for them to just check it out and tell me what the problem is? Thanks
Re: What kind of range do you get on your Civic on a single tank of fuel?
Another big factor is where you get gas, if you go to the cheap knock off guy to save 4 cents a gallon its going to cost you more because your car will use more gas (from what I found around here). Ive been going to shell for the past 2 months and ive been gettingn excellent gas milage.
Depending on how many miles are on your car, I dont think a tune up will help (it wont hurt either), newer cars are designed to be mostly maintenance free until 100k miles (besides the normal stuff such as oil, filter, tires, brakes).
Re: What kind of range do you get on your Civic on a single tank of fuel?
I made a trip out from Austin, TX to Palm springs, CA During that trip i used premium and i drove the speed limit 65-80 mph and twice i maxed out my car to see how fast i could go. i averaged 28 mpg (25-31mpg). On the way back i followed behind my dad driving a moving truck and went 55-60mph the whole way. On that trip (used only premium)
i averaged 50mpg (48-52mpg). i was goin about 350 miles before my gage hit half a tank. i wish i could drive like a grandma all the time but i cant resist the urge to go fast.... well as fast as my car can. 2001 civic ex coupe

So your saying 55 mph and premium is the way to go? What station do you fill up at usually? With gas prices skyrocketing lately, I'm afraid to pay for premium when I can just get regular. You think it makes that much of a difference? What were you getting with regular gas?
Re: What kind of range do you get on your Civic on a single tank of fuel?
Reread his post. His MPH was drastically different. Putting higher octane gas isn't going to make a difference. If the car was designed to run on regular, use regular.
