Front two speakers quit working.

I'm not really sure of the cause but my front two speakers quit working. Occasionally, the driver side works but only for a short time. I have an 06 civic 4dr and the stereo is completely factory. if anyone had any ideas on what this could be i'd very appreciative for some input.

Thanks in advance,
Ryan

Re: Front two speakers quit working.

almost always due to water damage. take the door panel out, cut and splice the wires directly to the speaker terminals, solder if possible. put some butyl around the open connection and then wrap electrical tape around that.

Re: Front two speakers quit working.

95% chance it is water damage if it works intermittently.

If you open up the panel, might as well get new aftermarket speakers

Do you go through automatic car washes?

I was really surprised to see water droplets on the front door speakers after the car had gone through a gas station car wash earlier in the day.

Re: Front two speakers quit working.

every car gets wet behind the door panel. its even called the "wet" side for that reason. and there are drain holes so most of the water can come out. if you want roll down windows, it will happen.

Re: Front two speakers quit working.

And that's another reason not to go to automatic car washes

Question Re: Front two speakers quit working.

My front speakers barely make a sound when the volume control is cranked up. You think it's the speakers? How can I check? If so, what replacements would you recommend?
