any ideas?.. its a deep sounding rumble that occurs at 1500 to 200 rpm's
My Civic makes a low snarly growling sound at low RPMs, but only when the engine is producing some torque, not at idle. I hear it when I drive away from standstill, when reversing, or when for instance turning onto my driveway. It's a weird sound...almost as if some part of the body is a bit loose and starts to vibrate at those low RPMs. Of course when I took a Honda service tech out in the car, I could not reproduce it....what kind of freaky law of nature IS that?
Anyway...you say "rumble"...that sounds very 'deep'. Would "growl" describe it as well?

it was a broken right engine mount
I also had a broken engine mount. Something like that really shouldn't break; hence, my pessimism towards Honda at this point. The back part of the drivers seat also fell off, revealing rusted steel; my wheel well cover fell off after going over a puddle once; the gas tank cover fell off; the emergency brake broke; my back brakes stopped working; and the battery died after 30k miles. I am not very impressed
But I do have a warranty so...all is OK for now.
