I am a newbie shopping for a new 2008 Honda Civic LX Auto. Below is the quote I got from a dealer.

MSRP - $18395
Total Selling Price - $16900
Total - $18155 (inclusive of tax, registration, license etc)
Total price also includes splash guards and premium paint protection.

Would like to know if this is a good deal. Also please advice on how to bargain so that I can end up on a lower price.

forget the splash gaurds they look BAD. and the prem paint protection is nothing but them waxing it for you. 18k sounds right for the car. Make sure you do a good look around on the car any scratches, dents, dings, ect... you need to call them out on it, if it wasnt said to you at first. That can lower the price. Other than that your pretty much stuck with the price. Higher miles can lower the car. Hondas tend to retain there price longer because of the gas prices.

I used to sale for gm. dont be afraid to walk out, or to ask for invoice, when they are bitching about how much money they are loosing, they get a tax credit for so much depending on state and they get a kick back from honda. so even though i got mine for 100 below invoice, (before tax etc) they still made a profit. also make sure they give you a full tank of gas and wash wax it.
