Replacing SRI Air Filter?...
I know that you should clean the filters with the K&N Recharger kit like every 6 months. But my question is this, after how many cleanings/miles should you be looking to get a brand new filter? Like after how many cleanings and miles are they worn out?
Ok cool thanks. Even though I'm sure that, like you said, it has the million mile warranty, I'd probably replace it like, I dunno, every 100,000 km's if I even make it to that on this car, who knows how long I'll have it to be honest.

er. depends on the filter.
if its a K&N, its suppose to outlast your car if you clean it regularly.
if you just get a whatever filter from somewhere... u might want to check if u should or not...

they use to be K&N filters I believe...
now its AEM brand.
AEM filters are pretty good stuff.. so I would just get the K&N recharge kit, or get ur own oil (I'm not really sure what oil they lube the filter with, check) and just wash the filter.. reoil it every... say 10,000 miles I guess. buy the K&N kit once, find out what it is and just get it somewhere else cheaper.
AEM/InJen filters both use to be K&N, but they switch to their own now... they're all multi-layer cotton filters, washable, reusable, and last the life of your car.

Ok thanks. Just out of curiousity if I ever had to replace it, what size or model number, etc for a K&N filter that will fit on the AEM SRI?
Also, I was looking at the Injen filter, and it is supposed to flow the air more efficiently than its competitors, anyone know what size you would need to replace the AEM one, or is it even worth it?

Sorry, it wasn't Injen that I was thinking of, it was A'PEXi Just look at the opening for more air. Would this do a better job of letting more air in? Also, are A'PEXi filters any good, and would they fit on the AEM SRI, if so, what size would I be looking for?
Oh yeah and another thing, do heatshields like this interfere with the intake of air into the filters?

I believe the AEM and INJEN intakes utilize K&N filters. They are the same filter and work the EXACT same way. As far as apexi filter, i wouldnt worry about replacing the filters whether you go for AEM or INJEN. ITs not the filter that allows the HP gain its the intake piping the filters job is just that to filter out the things that dont need to be in the engine. Stick with the filter that comes with the intake and youll be fine. As far as the filter charger. Get the K&N filter charger kit at almost any autoparts store its about ~10-15 bux and if you clean the filter every oil change or every other oil change it is meant to last. Its not a disposable filter. Clean it and you wont have to worry about chaging it out.
Hope this helps you out Majarvis

Yup, it did help me a lot, thanks.
And just another thing, I know we've gone over the heat shield issue, but by looking at some of them, they appear to interfere in the airflow through the filter, is this true?
And the piping on the AEM SRI, is that a 3" diameter? I haven't been able to find the specs on it.

Whoops, didn't see your last post.
But yeah, I kinda figured Ractive sucks, lol, so I won't bother with a heat shield, as like you said, it's mostly just cosmetic, won't really do anything, and just costs more money

I would recommend buying the AEM CAI version 1, its a great buy and well worth the bank, but be sure to by the byoass valve. If you do choose to get the SRI stick with AEM. Ill see what i can do about the specs. but i dont think its 3in i think its smaller, i could be off a little on the measurments tho
Yeah, I know the CAI is better for power, but I'm just too afraid of getting it, even with a bypass valve, we get a lot of rain and snow here on the East Coast of Canada, so I'd rather just stick to the SRI.
Awesome.
Just another thing, I know that with wet filter types, such as what is on the AEM SRI, they need to be cleaned and re-oiled, but how would that A'PEXi one work since it is a dry type filter? Does it just need to be cleaned, and not oiled, or what?
