you need to make the throttle body perfectly round. this takes a lathe or at least a drill press with the correct tool to cut it with.... no way with a dremel ...also you need to replace the butterfly with a larger one

I don't think the gain would be worth it. Wouldn't it be better to just get a new intake starting from the block??

If I am not mistaken, the butterfly is the rotating piece within the throttle body that controls the amount of air that comes through. Correct me if I am wrong though

I understand that probably not much but hey, still like to get an idea. Throttle body work would make more of a difference with acceleration, huh?

I thought about doing this myself, but I don't have a drill press that's precise enough. The one I have is fine for wood, but for metal the tip vibrates too much. If I had the tight tool, then sure I could do it. Just use a lathe and bore it out until the bottom doesn't have this little lip anymore.

Then with a lathe and a sanding bit do cross-hatching. First the sanding bit has to have only light pressure on the inside of the throttle body. Then you turn the bit at relatively low speed and push it through the throttle body opening at a constant rate. Then reverse direction (or if not possible reverse throttle body) and do it again.

Larger diameter throttle body will give you more flow and cross-hatching will make the air flow across the sides of the throttle body with minimal friction. Then all you need is to match up the butterfly valve with the throttle body opening. You could again use the lathe to to take some material off and match it up.

if your going to bore the TB its worth it to p&p as well because all that stuff realy works well together to increase airflow, with bored TB, P&P
head, increased compression, and good I/H/E , you can expect knowticeable gains, espesialy with a new fuelpump/reg and some sort of FCU or jet-like chip you can realy crank it up. add internals and some more milling&bolt ons and youve got yourself a good all motor car... with all that id guess 30 hp gain if its properly tuned by pros on a dyno. ive got money saved up for this this summer i plan on doing the above and will get info up on it when i start.

I think before you bore out the TB, you first need to know how much CFM it flows stock. For all we know it might already be flowing well enough that boring it out might be fruitless... dunno.
