Hey everyone, just curious to know the best way to go about painting my calipers red. The thing is, I am thinking that ill get paint splater in the frender well. I know what type of paint to use, but should I take the caliper off its mount so I can take off the brake pad so I don't paint that as well? Or should I just leave the caliper on the disc and just cover up the disc with a towel, like I read before?
hey z, if you're worried about the wells, get a big garbage plastic bag, cut it so that it's flat and masking-tape it behind the brakes and calipers. Newspapers are fine too; it'll be jsut like painting the walls/ceiling of a room, and how you have to cover teh floor before you do it.
You can take the caliper off to color the whole caliper, but this can be really hard, and you have to know what parts you're dealing with.
painting just the exposed portion of the caliper will let the paint wear off more faster.
this thread will give you the basics of brakes and caliper installation:

I kinda used XxSoVeReiGNxX's first suggestion. I removed most of the caliper, except the brake line. Then I taped everything off everything on the inside of the calipers and used a plastic bag and painted the calipers. They came out great.
