Question about driver side mirror damage (and replacement)

I was backing out of a friends garage and hit my mirror on the side. well, fortunately i was only going 1mph and stopped practically the second it hit. well, I'm not sure how much damage was done internally, but the mirror is still held to the car pretty well. the only visible damage are cracks in the glass. I heard the side mirrors are only held to the side of the car with glue/adhesive tape stuff. is this true? also, would it be possible, if all my internal components are fine (I can still adjust the mirror with the power controls) can I take it apart and only replace the glass portion? I notice the glass mirror is listed alone as a part in the honda catalog. being only $6 for the glass, i'd save a good $70 if I could just use automotive double sided tape to fix the mirror back onto the car snugly. anyone have experience in this field?

also, if you've replaced you're side mirrors, anyone willing to part with one?

The side-view mirrors are secured with 3 nuts, not with glue/adhesive tape. Wait... are you talking about the side-view mirrors or the mirror itself?

I'm pretty sure that you can just replace the mirror portion.

I would sell you mine, but its from an LX (black).

haven't had to replace any on my 7th gen- but both 5th and 6th gen side mirrors are held in by a snap in ball/socket joint. easy replacement if they haven't changed since.

Ohhh! But I'd have to buy the whole thing though, right? Cuz I thought you meant there were blue-tinted replacement mirrors for our stock side-view mirrors.

this morning i went out to see how I could go about fixing it.. turns out everything inside the mirror is cracked too. also, i couldn't figure out a way to just remove the mirror itself. so I went ahead and ordered another driver side mirror for $80.

my god, talk about living death

the mirror is held on by 4 bolts, you must remove the door panel to reach one of the screws i believe

the other bolts are hidden behind where the tweeters are for the lx

Yup, what Voiceofid said.

Take off the door panel. Pull out the black triangular piece [which is held by a clip]. Take out the 3 [4?] nuts. Wasn't there just 3 nuts? Unless there are 4 for the EX.
