OMG. finally answered and mention that you have a LX.
if you have an EX those numbers would be low.
EX 5spd dynos stock ~110 hp.
you got 13 hp gain. thats pretty good in my book.
now tell me, do you have an LX AUTO or Manual? That can account for the 94 whp stock.
a LX stick does ~100 hp on the dyno.
13 hp is pretty good imo. thats over my previous estimate. but my previous estimate was base on an EX.
i can't see your dyno graph clearly so I dont know where the power gain is at in the powercurve...
you should compare the difference on the rpm where hp is different... so you know where ur engine is making the most power...
think u can get some closer shot of those dyno paper?
let me say again, if you have an LX auto, thats pretty good.
LX manual.... i duno. a dyno isn't always universal..s ometimes one dyno is diff. from the other... plus where are u located? the temperature during the dyno run? lots of variable.
dont get too depressed... 13 hp from a civic with bolt on is pretty good.

i live in philadelphia. my lx is 5 speed...
my friends ex is 5 speed too...i'm telling you we race a lot with him and now after this dyno tuning i always win...
hes planing to ame v2 intake and he got apexi too, but not yet istalled..
if you wanna see my dyno give me your email address, i'll send it to you..

okay cool.
capyoda@hotmail.com
was the dyno done on a hot day?
if it'll make u feel better. that 109 hp figure isn't solid.. i mean on a cold day you could be pumping 112. who knows.
but your car is definitely faster than stock now right? so at least ur money hasn't been wasted.
I'd still say 13 hp is good... albeit u did throw on lots of stuff.
and yeah, maybe the shop isn't too keen on tuning it..
I still think 94 hp stock is a bit low. usually stock LX/DX is at 100 hp...
well its clear the tunning did something though, ur car is definitely faster than ur friend's ex.

btw. seeing as how you're going to get the KMS intake manifold...
u might want to consider a port and polish job after that to even increase flow more...
but that means u should tune the cam gear and apexi again.

yeah its expensive. maybe u should shop around?
I got the email.
can u send the stock dyno run too?
but looking at it right now.. u lost a bit of torque from 3,000 rpm to 4,000 rpm... but it increases significantly during the mid range at 4,000 rpm to 5,5000 rpm.
as for hp... well... can't compare this as easily as torque cuz ur stock is 94 hp and the other dyno I'm looking at is around 100... BUT, your high end definitely improved, from 5,5000 rpm all the way to 6,300 rpm.
so overall good increase in torque from mid range... and hp gains in the upper rpm ranges....
I duno how much you spend but at least these are real gains.

hey CapYoda,
if i'm going to install kms intake manifold and do the dyno tuning again. hom mutch hp and tq should i get??? you think i can get at least 10.. they guy, John, from kms told me that this manifold should give 7 hp on the stock engine.. can it be true??
that dude at performance shop, where i got my dyno, told me that stock intake manifold sucks a big time. it does not allow more air in...

yeah the stock plastic intake manifold is pretty crappy in terms of air flow..
I dont know about 7 hp. but its possible...
you can probably get another 5-10 hp...
its pretty pricy though.

edit: is there anyway to calculate the hp at wheel if you know hp at flywheel?

It all depends on the loss through the drive train, which depends on things like the tranny, clutch (if you have a manual), flywheel weight, etc.. And as everything wears, you get less HP to the wheels. So I'm not gonna say that there isn't a way to calculate it, but it's gonna be hard. I'm sure there's a rule of thumb somewhere that works just fine...
Mike, what the guy at the shop told you sounds correct to me. If you aren't getting the air from the start then all those other parts you added aren't gunna live up to their full potential. I bet when you get that new intake manifold on there you'll see a significant increase in performance. Another thing you have to keep in mind is this. When you are looking at an engine that only throws 127hp at the flywheel to begin with you aren't going to get the big gains with simple upgrades like cai's and exhausts. For example my roomie has a 96 Trans Am (LT1 engine) which @ stock produces something like 285hp. An intake for him may actually add 10 ponies where as for me a simple intake may only give 3hp. The 3 doesn't sound as impressive but the percentage would be on par. Just my 0.02.
Yeah, that intake manifold should free up a lot of power because the air flow won't be so restricted, especially if you have your whole exhaust done. I'll be getting the KMS manifold too and can't wait
Where'd he get a 96 trans am with an LT1? DId you mean LS1, because the LT1 was a corvette engine, and the LS1 is the camaro/firebird engine.... and as far as swapping an LT1 why not just swap a 502, thats the engine gm is famous for....
According to my roomie they changed in 98 to the LS1. His car is the 96 Trans Am with an LT1 from the factory. The LT1 was in f-bodies from 93-97. If you want to check his site go here: http://members.shaw.ca/leobrowne
