Camshaft Info Please...........................

2002 Civic EX, so who makes camshafts for our civics? I am looking for a mild cam that I can install w/o changing valve train,etc. Is it possible to install camshaft that won't make my car unreliable and significantly shorten the life of my engine? Thanks for any suggestions[IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/IMG]

only one i am aware of is GUDE and they do a regrind.

yep just gude and crower. and they are all regrind camshaft. depends on what company you like.

Definatly go Gude, if you plan on doing any interior work on your engine, they have it setup so you send them your head, and they do a full upgrade, port polish, new camshaft, everything. I think its about $4,000. But it gives you i think around 40HP and on our little cars that is ALOT

I heard aboyt that offer, but I remember a while back bout someone complaining that there package screwed up their car.

a reground cam is a stock cam that has material added to the lobes and ground down to the specs of whoevers doing it. then the "reground" lobes are hardened. They are not as good as a new performance cam, however no one makes a cam for our cars. For regrinds you have three choices DH racing, Crower, and Gude. Gude would be my last choice because of the bad rep they got here for a very bad head package that a member got.

is a camshaft easy to install as a DIY? or is it something that i would need to take to the shop. Also, what is the difference between a reground cam and a performance cam...in other words, what makes it a 'performance' cam?
