Rep Power: 0 who did custom internals on their D17?
I'm sure yo've read my other post. busted a rod
$600.00 to get in and replace it- engine is already open, so looks like forged pistons and billet rods for the engine
what do you guys have in yours? Did you just give them the OEM spec sizes available from honda or did they already know the engine and have all the info they need to build something.
ps- riceburner mentioned shotpeening rods, what exactly is this? Would it be cheaper and stronger just to get new OEM rods and send them out to be shotpeened?
Thanks for the info guys and gals

Rep Power: 560 wait one rod and to put one rod in for 600 bucks, i paid 695 for 4 rods and 500 something for 4 pistons. my labor is large bc im doing alot more but 600 is like 20 percent of my labor charge. is this a warranty issue if ur close in mileage to the end of the warranty then go for crower, if not get as much out of a warranty that u can, i myself have used and abused warranty to the fullest, i think im up in the 7-8 thousand range

Rep Power: 560 my car but no picts
look at the future mods
that list is what im doing, im mainly doing turbo, pistons and rods and sleeved block. i was the first person to inquire about a sleeved block from AEBS (advanced engine breathing systems) them so i had to send them a head gasket which i probly wont get back so theres 35 bucks down the drain, soooo im waiting on them to tell me whether they can do it. the goal im hoping to achieve with them is that they can cast their own block and sleeves and ship me that one thus creating a off the shelve capability for them, and a month that i dont have to endure without a car. ultimate goal is turbo sleeved block with pistons and rods, with capabilities of 15+ psi, unfortunatly no head work yet, but when the time comes for that we will be talkin valves/springs retainers, and a cam/gear, jet ecu work. i would like to have everything done engine wise but no head work for HIN in chicago 7-26-03, cant say if that will happen but hoping.

Rep Power: 0 someone else had their engine sleeved down to 1.6L- theort being that would strengthen the block and allow higher compression for strength and turbo applications? I'm looking into that being as d16 internals are available off the shelf at a reasonable price and way stronger than our d17 internals, would probably be idel for turbo and nitrous applications, what do you guys think?
