DIY: Disable Daytime Running Lights

Well for ne of you that do not like your daytime running lights..this is how you disable them...mostly for the visual effect if you have cleared headlights…

(Sorry for not having pix)

1.) Be sure all the power in your car is off (lights turned off, engine off, etc.)
2.) Have a pair of needle nose pliers and flash light handy
3.) Remove the panel under the steering wheel by turning the 2 *****
4.) Look at your fuse panel and remove fuse 12 and 3 (7.5 and 10 amp fuse), #3 fuse is the third from the left on the bottom row....12 is the 2nd from the left on the second row from the bottom
5.) Place the panel back and place the fuses somewhere you can find them if you need them in the future
6.) Turn on the car and your daytime running lights are now disabled

Nice and easy...and it has a wicked look...

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it illegal to not have daytime running lights in canada?

Also is there a way to enable them on cars without them? I would like to see them on my car. I know that sounds stupid, bare with me please.

Thanks!

I have daytime running lights and no i don't live in Canada. I looked up the Daytime runnings light fuses in the manual and tried removing them but it didn't work, maybe I just didn't remove both at the same time so i'll have to try this now, thanks.

IMO, I sometimes like the look of just having the headlights on and no other lights, But it sure sucks big time to not be able to turn them off at all, I was thinking of wiring a switch to just the headlight beams. That way I could have just the headlights on when i want (which other people can't do without daytime) and still turn them off when I don't want any lights on.

SURE IS!!! I took my daytime running lights out, but cops don't really care just because in canada, not everysingle one of the cars has them, but if you go to a street race or some meet and cops pull you over, they'll ticket you !!!!! I dunno i think it looks good just because not that many canadians have it done so don't worry about it and if a cop pulls you over then just say your fuse is blown! simple and easy solution!
Hope that helps

It "IS" illegal in Canada to drive a vehicle that is equipted with DRL's and have them knowingly disabled. I have been thinking about doing that in the summer as it would look alot better, but one thing I would do for sure, is to get a blown fuse that is the same type as the ones that run the DRL's and replace it, that way your safe in any case, so that they cant say you did that on purpose or anything like that, you can say hey, it must be blown and get out of a ticket or andthing likt that, but they are nice to have in bad conditions where they make you more visiable for sure.

Thats just my $0.02

Well I know it is ILLEGAL...but it's funner that way.. haha...but yeah...if you just buy the fuse 10 and 7.5 amp...and plug them in....your daytime running lights will work..cuz the circuit will be complete...

All I can say so far...is that it looks hella tyte....cuz I cleared my headlights..and my bulbs are PIAA...so they stand out...real nice....when I drive around at night..with only my singals..and running lights(circle ones) it's really dark...haha...and I can't do it for very long...cuz the day time running lights..actually made a difference.... I can't wait till its summer...and it's just a low light..and I drive around like that..cuz in winter...man..does it get dark..fast...

Cool! So do I just pick these fuses up at the local Autozone? Or do I have to special order them since they are not placed on civics built in the US?

Thanks for your help guys!

I just check and my car actually already has the fuses. However I do not have daytime running lights? What do I do now? They are the same type of fuses as mentioned in the DIY above in the same spots... But no lights?? Any clues as to what is up?

Re: DIY: Disable Daytime Running Lights (Canada Only )

Does anyone know if this works on the 2007 Civics? The daytime lights annoying me for some reason and I don't wanna go just pulling fuses randomly.
