about the HP header and Race cat w/downpipe
i just bought the HP race header setup for my 02 civic ex and i was wondering if there is any problems that i should know when i install it like for example... do i need to do some sanding down on anything? from what i heard was that you have to sand down on the lower mount i think but im not sure if that is true...can somebody help me out? thanks
You don't if you have an automatic (they fit just fine), but if you don't you will have to cut your engine mounts or take out your engine install headers and reinsert engine w/ headers already attached. I am looking to get them to. How much did you pay and where did you get them from?
There's a lot more about this in the search

I dunno what HEBEGEBZ is smokin, but you don't have to take out your engine to install the header.
I hate how there are so many rumors floating around. But what I hate even more is that there are people that mislead others by blurting out these rumors as if they were fact.
This is the deal with the HP Race Header and high flow cat....
This full length 4-1 header will fit all models. However, modifications have to be made to one specific model. This is the 5-speed EX. Due to the position of the front motor mount on this model, most people have had to shave a bit off of the motor mount itself and the motor mount bracket. I'm pretty sure that you can shave the motor mount, shave the bracket, and then slide the header in, but I did it another way. I took off the motor mount. (after I uninstalled the factory header/cat assembly ofcourse) Then I slipped the new header in place. Once it was in place I could see where the bracket was about a half inch away from the header, so I moved the header out of the way and shaved the bracket with a dremel. Then I put the header back in, and tried to put the motor mount in. In my particular case it wouldn't fit unless I shaved it. So I did, then I put it back in and finished installing everything. I had my motor mount out for about 30 or 45 minutes without supporting the motor with anything. There are still 3 other (stronger) motor mounts holding the engine up and in place.
Now, some people claim that they have taken the motor mount out, put the header in, and then put the motor mount back in. I don't know how this is possible. Even if you did get the mount back in, it would vibrate against the header so I dunno. You can try putting it back in, then if it vibrates, shave it. It's up to you, but that's the scoop on the header.

Sorry AEMcivic just repeating what I heard. I thought I was helping. As I stated I, I was thinking about getting them. Which means I don't have them. So how would I know for sure. I guess I was just mislead.
Anyway, I do know that they will fit my car just fine. So, does anyone know a place I can get them for a good price.
By the way AEMcivic, I don't smoke.

LOL
I was just kiddin about the smokin.
And CivicRacer, as for the fitment on the 5-speed LX...it looks like you have to shave the mount AND either get an EX exhaust or custom exhaust because the length is different. Check out this thread. The last post in that thread is the most helpful.
Here's a thread that talks about the Kamikaze header for the LX.
And while we're lookin at threads, check out the 6th post down by Desi in this thread. Looks like you'll have to get an EX swaybar too if you go with the HP Racing header.
Try to PM some people...
Hondasport01 has the Kamikazi header on his LX. He said he got it from importparts.com for $245 shipped.
BLUENVY01 has the HP header on his LX. He didn't say where he got it from but I got the header and highflow cat from nopi.com for $260.

I supported my engine with a drop chain, took out the front mount, hung the header in place with 2 bolts, then re-installed the mount, NO PROBLEMS!. I got a slight vibration which was due to the header touching the mount bracket at WOT. I took a dremel and shaved about 1/2 inch off the bracket (once installed you will see what i mean) and all is fine. DONT SHAVE THE MOUNT!!!! there is no need to compromise the integrity of the mount. All you have to do is remove it, and everything fits fine. good luck.

you can lift the engine out a bit and make the install easier.. in a sense easier if you have the capability to lift the front of your engine out. but removing the mount is just as good. I think either way everyone's gotta shave a bit (er..) because that looks like a tight fit fromt he pictures I've seen
for DX/LX/HX users they gotta get a front ex sway bar because their stock sway doesn't clear the "high flow" cat. convertor. and an EX mid section and cat-back. aftermarket or stock.
they have the HP 4-1 race header with highflow cat style header running around on ebay... I think the auctions are ending around 150-160 + around 25 for shipping so you're looking at $175-185 for one.
I believe an o2 sensor simulator is still needed to have the engine light off and the correct fuel map being read.
I think some will debate on the need for one but IMO if you ever get an engine light on vtec will not engage. that and you're wasting gas because your engine isn't as efficient as it could be and you're underpower.

also another thing that i have a question with...i got a race cat on there right now and it had no o2 censor plugin.. so my friend cut part of the old cat and welded it on to another part of this piping that he had to extend it with...how will i be able to take out the o2 censor from that so i can plug it in the new cat? do i just unscrew it? thanks

The new cat that comes with the header has a hole for the O2 sensor. Hopefully you'll be able to unscrew the sensor from the hole your friend made and screw it into the new cat. Eventually, you'll have to get an O2 simulator for OBD II ECUs. I bought this one but haven't put it on yet.

2002EM I would like to also know if you have any performance gains and is it worth it or not, cuz I am really looking into getting headers very soon and just going on opinions.

During the first test drive I noticed a slight loss in low end. I barely noticed it then and now I don't notice it at all.
With this header you can feel when Vtec kicks in because it starts pulling even more. I won't know the exact horsepower gain until I put it on a Dyno at the end of the month, but I do know that you can definitely feel it.

I just got my hp header w/high flow-cat, What do your package come with? i just want to make sure i got every little parts. Mine come with the header it self, high flow-cat, at the end of cat it have seal and 3 bolts and the model # is 50-1126. Oh yeah is the end of high flow-cat connected to the end of header? If is soo... it can't fit.
Do your come with installion manual book? Mine don't

the cat is separate...i had to put a jack under the engine and jack it up a bit(loosening to motor mount bolts)...i didn't have to cut the front motor mount completely off...just shaved on it a bit....well worth the money...the check engine light came on for a bit but went away after a week or so...
