Alarm settings - How to change?
Hey guys and gals...
I got an alarm installed two weeks ago. I'm happy with it so far, but its WAY too sensitive. If some ricer goes by with a weedwacker exhaust, my alarm goes off
And last night we got freezing rain, which got stuck on my car and weighed it down a bit...so just barely brushing up against it sets the alarm off.
I have the Viper 420esp alarm (from future shop, which was a bad idea, I know), can anyone help me out? How can I change the sensitivity on the sensor?
I think there's only the one brain unit, so I don't really even know where to start
Any help is appreciated!
TIA

Are you trying to change the shock sensor sensitivity? or the proximity sensor? Which one do you want changed.
I dont' know about the shock sensor, but on my proximity sensor there are 2 black *****. One is the warning sound and the other is the full blast sound. I have mine set to go off warning if someone gets close, and it goes off full blast if anything reaches inside the car.
The best thing to do is take it to the people who had it installed and have them fix it. They will fix it for free. Alarms are damn tricky things.

damn tricky and damned annoying.
See, I got it at future shop, so I'm not sure how retarded they're going to be.
If I take it back, they might try to charge me for it. But, then again, I have to go back to get them to install a new steering column cover thing. The guy drilled the hole for the red light...realized the light wouldn't reach, so then drilled another hole. But, he was nice enough to point it out AND order me a new one, so I'm not bitter.
But i AM bitter about these ricers who visit this girl up the street. they keep setting my alarm off
Oh, and when the garbage guy comes by, he sets it off too! fek

Is Future Shop a known bad place to get work done? I've never heard of it before.
Because they installed, it is their job to make sure the alarm works properly. If it's too sensitive, THEY have to fix it. There is no way that they can charge you for it.
I have fun setting off other's alarms with my sound system when I park in the parking garage when I go to class. hehehhe

that's reassuring.
ya, future shop is a canadian electronics "super store"...best buy just bought them I think. But ya, they're known to rip people off, but it's my own fault...I was too lazy to take my car in on a weekday to a REAL store. So instead, I got a weekend installation done at future shop.
Well, thanks for the tips FlyRiceRacer02!
Off to go barter with them now...

on the viper, it has a lil switch thing you rotate...
look for the brain and you should find it on the side of it.. just turn it the other way, that controls the sensor
