how long does clearing headlights take?

do you have to let the silicone dry first which could take almost a day? or can you put it no there and let it sit for like an hour. also ive heard that there is a way to remove the lights without removing the entire bumper anyone know how?
thanks again,
chris

you could just pull the upper part of the bumper forward:

just remove the 8mm bolt at each end of the bumper and the 4 self-tapping thingies above the grill.

give yourself about 2 hours to complete the project. I didn't reseal my lights with silicone.. i just heated up the black housing again and used the glue already on it (once softened) to reseal it.

I cleared my friends yesterday. I took like an hour. You don't have to let the silicon dry all the way but you should let it sit of a little bit. There is no way of removing the light without taking off the bumper that I know of. 2 of the bolts are behind the bumper.

i cleared mine a couple weeks ago, and it took my friends and i about 4 hours. but thats only because we stripped a screw and spent an hour looking for some pliers that would work on it. i think you could get it done in 2 hours...

1 hour, do what Mex did. No need to fully take off the bumper.

Pry the tabs off with a flat screwdriver. Read the DIY too. Use 100% Silicone, like the bathroom stuff. It should say something like Mildew and paint resistant or something like that. Also... make sure you have a T10 Torx driver on hand (6 sided screwdriver) That caught me by surprise and allen wrenches don't fit. 02's (prolly 03's also) have Torx screws... there are 2 of them that hold the chrome thing in. Took me like 2.5 Hours including the hardware store trip. Silicone dries in about 2 hours.

did anyone else notice that when that try to put the lens back on the housing i doesn't fit 100% the way it came off? It wasn't much off so I just filled it with silicone and put the clips back on.

I just did it tonight and it didnt take me but only about 20 min to do both of them. I already had them off my bumper but to take off the bumper it should only take about less then 30 min as well. I started to get scared when i took my bumper off, when you get all the clips and screws off/out, just take one side at a time and pull it at an angle like a 45degrees angle to the front and you will hear some snapping or cracking noises, dont worry it is just the clips coming out. do the same thing on the other side and there you go, bumper off. and for the head lights it should only take 10 min at the most to do everything, dont be scurred(scared).

1 hour? 20 minutes? 30 minutes? You all are either very very fast and very very skilled, or are lying through your teeth! It would take me about 2 hours. Me, having done a ton of DIY's and having taken off the front bumper countless times. 2 hours minimum. To do it properly and without any mess-ups I would say a good 3 hours (minumum!). For a newbie who's never taken off the front bumper or cleared any headlights then I would say that it would take approximately 5 hours. No joke!

I spread mine out over a few days because I was in no hurry I did like one a day and then one another day then put the car all together in the afternoon the next day. Should have seen my neighbors when I had my car all torn apart doing this project they were all starring haha but the look is Awesome.

Yeah I say 3 hrs or so over all if you need the car immediately.

ok, after clearing my headlights, I've sealed mine back up with both the kitchen or sink (or something) silicone, and then went around with the windshield silicone stuff.

How can I get this apart again? I'm interested in putting some tint in the headlight, almost like trevor's ride.

Should I put it in the oven? What's the fastest way to get the lens off? It took me forever to get it apart the first time

I had to take one apart that was sealed with silicone, but it was only one layer. I put it in the oven for a little bit linger than the first time and it was just as hard/easy to get off as it was with the stock glue.

no u do not have to ahve a heat gun but it could help especially if u have a sedan bc the silicon used in the sedan headlights is much stronger then those used in the coupe
