Inverter don't work

I brought a power inverter that has a 20 amp fuse and I can't use it in my cigarette lighter because that's 15 amps (when i tried it blew the fuse). So I was wondering would it work if I replace the lighter with a 20 amp fuse and how bad would that be? Or is there any other ways around this? any help would be appreciated.

PS-I also tried replacing the inverter fuse with a 15 amp, btw, that didn't work either.

If the inverter has its own internal fuse, you can just run a power lead straight from your battery.

Ain't there any other ways? I've already have a buncha other stuff hooked up to my battery and the inverter is only 140 watts so it doesn't come with the wires.

I don't get why the company (tripplite) makes a 20 amp Inverter when our civics, my friend's accord, another friend's rav4, and probably a whole lot of other cars uses 15 amp fuses for the lighters. Any ideas? just curious.
