sub question...

i was trying to install a sub in my car tonight and was wondering something. i already checked the DIY for this so dont flame me. i was wondering if any water from puddles or rain ever got in the rubber hole through the firewall where the power wire for the amp comes out of. i mean do i have to seal the hole with something? also, if i ever wanted to wire some fog lights to a switch, do i have to use the same hole in the firewall where the power wire came out of for the fog wire? thanks a lot

Water shouldn't get in there but if you want to be safe, after everything is wired and you make sure it works correctly maybe use a little silicone. When I had my alarm installed and they went through the firewall that what they did.

just cut little holes in the rubber grommit just big enough for the wires to go through.. and you can put some kind of sealant too.. you shouldn't have any problems..

man, how do you guys get to those grommets? I've always had to find other ways to wire stuff into the cabin.

i know the grommets are kinda tricky to get to sometimes.. they're usually behind some pipe or part or something,.. i didn't really have much trouble getting to the one in my car.

most of the time we sell them at circuit city , but you can go to most install bays and the will give you agrommet to shove the wire though .. and as far as sealing it ... ask the installer for Dumb Gum ... strip caulk .. this crap is great.. for sealing holes in the fire wall and stuff like that its awsome ...
