can factory tail lights be openned??
greetings all,
I have a 2001 dx civic sedan.
can the factory tail lights be pull apart? and if so is the red film inside removeable? I want to make my own completely clear tail lights

I wanted to do that too. And yea, plastic is red.......I wanted to black mine out from the inside.......
nearly impossible.....so I just painted the outside......worked perfect.......
as far as clear.....I don't know if we'll ever see that.

heres a question.... instead of our stupid turn signal... i wanna get like 5 little red lights possibly LED and make them the turn signal going along in the bottem in order . . . . . and light up one by one ... kind of pointing out the Turn is that possible? could i just drill holes, put the lights in and wire them to the stock turn signal wires there.. and just take out the stock bulbs but making sure to put the plugs in there so theres no condisation... does that sound like something that coud work?

Installing the LEDs would be the easy part. Getting them to flash in order......well that's another story. To do that you'll have to find some kind of circuit board that will make the LEDs flash in order.

lol, Is there any car that has red film on the tail lights? I thought most of them were red plastic. On a side note......I can post a picture of a cleared tail light when I get home. I still have the tail lights from when I backed into a pole.
It was just enough to crack all the red off of the light. Trust me, you don' t wanna clear em, it would look nasty.

those led's flashing that way is actually an option you can get for mustangs. It's a few hundred dollars on em. The guy that did my gutters for the house has em on his ride. I've also seen it done on an ecclipse but I'm pretty sure that was a custom job.

you must be talking about DogStyleEX. He bought his taillights from taiwan.
I dont think it is possible to ever take the stock lights apart.. Even if you can, I don't think you can easily glue them back together without them leaking.
