CD Player Trouble - Please HELP!
Hey, guys,
I am new to this, so be forgiving.
Here's the deal. I bought the optional in-dash CD player for my 2001 LX coupe (got the car used 2 weeks ago). After I installed the thing, it worked fine for several days, but then it started behaving funny: if I leave a CD in it, turn off the car, restart it, and eject the CD, itsometimes refuses to take the CD back - it displays EJECT and then ERR. It will do this several times, but then somehow will stop and work normally. I have no clue what the deal is. I have read a couple of posts on this site about security codes etc., but I bought the car used, and have no codes or anything - of course, I did have to disconnnect the battery when I installed the CD player. Is this only a matter of security codes? How do these codes work? - i.e. if it is real security, then how come the CD player works fine after such funny behaviour?
In short, guys, I need help
- I am not sure if I need to exchange the player itself.
Thanks in advance,

Ok, If the CD Player works at all it won't be a code problem. The player shouldn't work at all without the code being entered after its had the power disconnected. If ya bought the CD player new it should have came with a code since the code applys to the PLAYER & not the CAR. Try cleaning it real good. Also find out if the Car has had any "modifications" made to the wiring for the radio (such as... was another stereo installed in the car OTHER THAN the factory 1). If nothing has been messed with & the cleaning has no effect, take the CD Player back to Honda. Its defective.
Oh yeah, & make sure your CD that you're using isn't bad

codes only apply to the tuner/cd player all-in-one thing. if you're talking about the cd player that lives in the slot below your tape deck (or AM/FM only head) then codes are of no importance.
My CD player does something very similar.
I don't have a Honda CD player. I have a CD changer in the trunk, but I assume it plugs into the Head Unit just the same.
Sometime the Head Unit would not recongnize that I had a CD changer hooked up to it. It took me awhile to figure out the cause.
I have a starter kill switch/chip thing, and sometimes I foget to put it in. I go to start my car and it does not start so I turn the key all the way to the off posistion. I put the chip in and then start my car. My CD play then does not work.
I figure, that it is because I have the car on for only a couple of seconds (it does not take me that long to relize the chip is not in there) that the Head Unit never had a chance to "boot up" / "Warm up" - what have you - and so it never initialized the CD changer.
Before I knew the cause, I just waited till it work again like you say, but now knowing the cause, I remedy the problem by unpluging the CD cable from the Head Unit.
From now on, if I forget to put the chip in, I just leave the car in the 'on' position and put the chip in and then start the car. I have not had the problem since.
hope that helps
