I need help with trim peice!!!!
I have searched and searched and found answers that i really don't want to here. I have an automatic and I want to paint the trim peice that is around the shifter(the peice that tells you if your in drive or neutral) but only thing I have been finding is that you have to remove the whole center console and I am trying to avoid that is there any other way to get that peice off

Taking off the center console involves the removal of 2 screws on the back (one on each side, slide the seats up and you'll see them) and the 2 poppers on either side of the footwells(stick a screwdriver in the center and it will pop out. Then pry up the trim around the e-brake. It will come up easily. You'll see 2 screws just behind the panel that the shifter is on, undo those and the console will be free. I'm not sure how the auto shifter is all attached, I have a stick and all you have to do is take the **** off and pick up the whole thing. I'm not sure how the auto **** (or whatever it is called) is attached. If it comes off, the whole thing should come up, then there should be some screws underneath holding the panel that you want to paint into the center console. Once that is out, paint it, then reverse everything. Taking out the console takes 10 minutes.
Your alternative is to carefully mask off and cover everything in your interior except what you want to paint, but I wouldn't recommend doing that.

As he said, you could use masking tape or whatever and try to carefully paint the piece, or you could take the smarter path adn remove the center console. It's really not that difficult to do, there's only about 6 screws total, and it slides right out. It takes maybe 5 minutes to do, though it could take 10 if you've never done it before.
Just give it a shot, then you can vaccuum up all the french fries that got caught underneath there as well. Heh heh.
