k20 2.4L in civic
The honda crv and the civic are built on the same chasis. I am wondering why we cant swap in the 2.4 liter k20 into our civics? There is enough room obviously because the engine bays on the crv and civic are almost the same as well as the rsx.. What seems to be the swapping problems? Is it do to the fact that the engines are all backwards compared to ours? I mean yeah the header is on the back and the throttle bodie is on the side but thats no reason why it shouldent fit? Couldent crv mounts even be used in the process? Somone fill me in a lil on this one...

yep.. htowncivic talks about that here IB said it would be easier to swap the CRV engine into the civic.
First off, It's K24 Anyway, I would think there might be some clearance issues with the hood, plus you would need a tranny from an RSX or something since the CRV is either RWD or AWD. Other than that, It shouldn't be too hard.
The problem with the K24 is the stroke. It is gawdawful long and would be difficult to hotrod. It would not stand up to the revs that the K20A head is tuned for. It will bolt up though. The thing to do though is use the K20A crank so that theengine can rev.

According to the August/September issue of Honda Tuning, it is an easier task to swap the K20A2 from the RSX into the Civic by using the subframe from the RSX, as it simply bolts up to the Civic.
