Exhaust

Ok let me see if I have everthing straight about exhaust systems as I was searching. (Maybe I can help out some other newbies too).
A muffler with custom pipe will be loud (i hope I am right??)
Loud Meduim Quiet Muffler/rear section Full Cat-back Deep Tone Weed-Eater
Greddy- x x x x
MagnaFlow- x x x x
DC- x x x
Thermal- x x x ? ?
Apexi x x ? ?
Reactive x x ? ?
HKS x x x
OBX ? ? ? x x ? ?

ok I hope this helps some people out, it's helping me out on the type of exhaust I want. I have decided on greddy or thermal or OBX (winter here they put alot of salt down. Maybe we can add to this help me out with sound of the cat-backs, and mufflers guys (I would like to know if the OBX exhaust is loud, quiet, or if it's not to loud but not quiet either, and if it has a weed-eater sound or deep tone? also with the Thermal too)

i don't know what your post meant but in most cases, pipe diameter will determine loudness. the design will as well. mufflers that are straight will be louder

ok, if your gonna do a custom exhaust that sounds good....2.25" piping is good and also put on a resinator....as for a muffler, straight mufflers (like tha apex'i N1) are loud..but with tha resinator it sounds nice and deep...thats what i got, so just tellin from my experience..and i love my exhaust

My TCS sounds just right. Nice tone and no ricey or weed wacker sound from the TCS.

yeah guys I was going to make a chart, so us newbies could just look at that than keep asking the same questions over and over. But it didn't turn out the way I wanted too. BTW, so a 2.5" custom pipe with resonator, and say an HKS muffler would sound not like a weed-eater? I thought if you put a custom pipe on it would make your car louder, and than a cat-back. I also thought that a cat-back would give you more horsepower (well with most car instead of our ULEV civics) than a custom pipe?? Now I am confused. Now should I get a custom job done, and good muffler or a cat-back. I want a nice deep tone, not too loud, but it can be heard. I was thinking of either Greddy, but when it's winter here the state road guys dump the salt on the roads when they say the word snow, then I was wondering about Thermal. I have never heard the sound on a thermal exhaust. I was also looking at OBX, but yet again I don't know what they sound like. Any info would help. Now let me see if I can make a better chart out for us newbies.

2.5" piping with a res and a good muffler, like hks wouldnt sound ricey, it would sound pretty deep and loud. Loudness depends on tha size of tha piping, and use of a resinator, so custom isnt neccesarily louder than a cat back....actually they're probably about tha same if u get tha job done right...one of tha main differences with custom and a complete system is that custom is usually crush bent, rather than mandrel bent...which means its a little more constrictive..but u wont really notice too much...if u do want mandrel bends on custom piping, i heared magnaflow sells mandrel bends.
