it will probably be fine.. but the color u paint on top of it might come out dark.. becuase u will still be paintin on basically a black surface.. i couldnt find white or clear primer.. i used gray primer.. and its just light enuff but dark enuff to make the color stay the same as on the cap..
i think gray would be best.. since white might make your color too light??? and clear might make it to dark???

Grey is always a best bet for painting, its a neutral shade. White will hilight whatever color you are using and black will aways burn the color. Grey will always give you the best representation of the actual color you are painting since it doesnt absorb or reflect any of the natural light. Most people use white on interior trim because of the natural darkness inside compared to outside to actually brighten up the colors when viewed from outside the car. Clear primer is good to use on an already neutral color when your going to be painting solid colors (non-metallic) or using multi process paint jobs (base coat, color coat, top coat)

Yea, I got a question half *** relating to this. I was trying to pop out my trim piece in the dash where the radio is, and there is supposed to be a bracket that you push on... right? Well when I got my system installed apparently they "got rid" of the bracket and I don't have one. So, how can I get that trim piece out? Any thoughts? I took apart my car the other day and then I sat there (upside down) staring up at the mass of wires wondering where this magical bracket was... or maybe I just can't see it or get to it because my new deck is in the way... either way, I got nothing. My friend told me to "push out the radio" but I don't see what good that would do. Sorry to invade your thread Jc20unc. But yea, what they said about the paint! I've only got a few things painted but it looks good so far.
