Angry Need Advice on a Repair

I have an 01 Civic EX that I bought with 124K and was told the belt had been done. Well at 140K the t-belt broke and bent ALL the valves. Had it done at a shop because I had bought an extended warranty. They covered everything but the water pump and the total cost was almost $3k. I paid almost $400 out of pocket-thank god for the warranty.
Now, 3 or 4 weeks later, the car is running crappy and pulled a crank sensor code. What are the chances that the broken belt hit the sensor and cracked it but the tech never checked it?
Should I take it back to the shop, that tried to rake me in the first place and had my car for 3-weeks, or should I pull it apart myself and document everything.
It is still under the warranty.
I am disabled and don't want to have to take the bus to school so any advice would be welcomed.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Need Advice on a Repair

if its underwarrenty, take it to the shop.

if u try n mess with it urself......and something goes wrong (or something else goes wrong) the shop might try and blame it on u.....and void ur warrenty.

Re: Need Advice on a Repair

usually crank sensors get messed up from mechanics spilling coolant on it while doing the timing belt and water pump.
