2001 lx 5 speed bearing woes
hey everybody!
I have a 01 lx that is making a bunch of rattling when the clutch lever is released. I'm new to the world of Civics but I'm here to stay! i bought this car with 215K on it with the original clutch still on board, so I changed it right away, but the noise persists. actually i think its gettng worse, I've read some posts on here speaking to mainbearing problems and think thats what's going on. so I'm looking for anybody who can give me a walk through on the teardown and rebuild. I'm very mechanical but I need some tech advice.

Wow your opening up a major can of worms here. If you have a spun bearing that's a big job. Also, I don't think this would have much to do with your clutch. Search on youtube for spun bearing and watch some videos of cars that have it and compare it to yours.
It might be easier to replace the motor than it would be to replace bearings.

see this is the kind of info I need! when I first take off from a stand still it sounds like a can with a marble in it, then it goes to the baseball card in the spokes sound (if any body here ever did that) but yes the sound is gone when the pedel is pressed. do you have any where you can direct me where I can find a step by step on this?
thanks for the info too

I'm sure it is alot of work but I'm up for it, and the clutch is great. i was just suprised to see the original still in there after 215K. the lady I bought it from also purchsed the maintenance with it so the oil was changed on schedule, the car is in great shape, just needs some tlc

yeah I don't know where the engine thing came into this I don't have any illusions about that. I have not rebuilt a transmission on a car before but there's a first time for everything right. I have rebuilt engines and motorcycle transmissions, not quite the same I know but I'm definately inclined. if you or anybody else has a place where they can send me to view a walk through I would appreciate it. I'll post walk through pics with directions as I work through it.
