clean brand new headlight bulbs?

2 schools of thought on this one..

anything, including alcohol wipe, touching it will leave a small amount of residue that can cause breakage of bulb.

clean any dirt from sitting/prepackaged contaminates to prolong life of the bulb

where do you stand? I finally got my new bulbs in the mail and i just want to try and get a consensus on your new in box bulb installation.

Typically I use rubber gloves. If you need to use alcohol Im sure it will not hurt and it evaporates.

Re: clean brand new headlight bulbs?

at the factory, its mostly machines doing the work so you are pretty safe to pop them in. but using a hi purity alcohol should not leave streaks and if it does, try to wipe the bulb immediately with a dry cloth so it doesnt dry on the bulb. holding the bulb to a bright light is an easy way to see if deposits are being left on the glass.
