Undercarraige maintenance..
Undercarraige maintenance..
Hey guys, I live in Jersey and with all the snow and salty conditions every winter, I wanted to know what I can do to clean the undercarraige as well as prevent any possible threat of corrosion.. Several Car washes offer undercaraige cleaning though I would rather know what it entails.. Thanks Guys...
Re: Undercarraige maintenance..
its just a high pressure spray that shoots up as you drive threw it. at my old job we would sell a winter package and we woild spray the under body with a tar like substance that would harden i forgot the exact name but i think they sell it in sray cans at auto part stores.
Re: Undercarraige maintenance..
I live in Massachusetts and deal with the salt as well. What I did was made a under carriage sprayer out of a 5 foot piece of 1 inch PVC pipe, 45 degree elbow, an end cap, and a hose attachment. I took the 5 foot piece added the elbow, then another 6 inch piece of pipe then the end cap. Drill some small pin holes (about 20 in the same area) in the 6 inch piece of pipe so the water comes out with a lot of pressure and use a quick change hose attachment on the opposite end. Obviously, assemble it all with PVC primer and glue. Maybe I'll take a photo of it for you.
Re: Undercarraige maintenance..
I live in NY, which is pretty bad when it comes to road salt. I just went to the car wash every week, or every other week, depending on weather conditions. Once it gets nicer, I'd say just buy one of those hose attachments from Wal Mart or some place. Its a sprayer, that, IIRC, is in a D shape. It goes from one side to the next and sprays. I'm gonna do that once the warm weather hits. Just make sure if you visit the car wash, you wipe down your doors. I forgot to do that one time and my doors froze. Lol.

on my way to work. I was like "FML" and ended having to drive my parents Accord shitbox. Re: Undercarraige maintenance..
I done this with a buddies EG. We borrowed a lift and lift it up and scraped the hell out of it and sprayed it off and made it nice and clean. Lol it was a mess we was all black *** hell with all that tar under there. But after that we got some of that rhino lining stuff (the stuff for trucks to make there trunk beds durable and stuff). We sprayed a pretty thick layer on and it works like a charm.
