Rep Power: 0 exhaust leak help needed
I just replaced the donut gasket in front of the catalytic converter and its leaking. Did i need to use a sealant around the gasket? The bolt/springs from autozone didnt seem to pinch the flange tight enough against the gasket to seal... will the gasket seal it self up a little more as it heats up?

hand tools...
its tough to explain, but the bolt shaft had a long bushing spacer type set-up with the spring. the threaded portion was only about 3/4 inch. i tightened it to the point where the spacer was hitting the a pipe. the pressure applied to the joint is from the spring pusing against the cat flange and the head of the bolt. It cant be tightened any further.
I'll find a link later and post it. i have to step out for a few hours
