How hard is it to change the transmission fluid on an 07 Civic 4 dr. Sedan, 4cyl. ? What do I need to do it. It now has 30,000 miles. I know this 8 generation has a special type tranny, don't want to screw it up. Thanks, Mike

very easy. usually you can do it without even jacking the car up, but its much easier if you put the front on jackstands. just loosen the drain bolt, let the fluid go into a container, then retighten the bolt, put the car down, and refill honda atf thru the dipstick on top. assuming you have an auto that is...manual is more complicated.

Manual is not that complicated. Two bolts(one refill, one drain). Roughly 2 qts on 01-05 civics. Takes me 10 minutes!!!

I have a 2006 civic ex, 2 door, with an automatic transmission. I was just going to go to the dealership to change my transmission fluid, but it sounds so easy to do it myself. I was reading the thread and my question is where is the drain bolt? Any suggestions?

well on the older civics, it was the only bolt that had a square hole for a ratchet to fit in without any attachments. just search around under the transmission area on the passenger side and see if you can locate it. the owner manual kinda shows where it is.

Sorry, Yes I have an Automatic Tranission. I will drive it up on ramps to remove the transmission drain plug. Where about is it at so I want remove the motor mount instead.... LOL I don't trust myself to much on the first try. Thanks, Mike

it looks like a bolt, and its somewhere near the bottom of the trans housing, on the passenger side. usually it has a square hole that fits a plain 3/8 inch ratchet.
