Can you rethread heads?

I have a 99 EX 1.6 liter engine that threw a spark plug last night. The threads on the plug are still good, but it will not thread back into the head. I am assuming it stripped the threads when it came out.

Can I rethread the heads without pulling the heads off? Any idea what it should cost for a shop to do it for me?

Thanks,

Hey man...You're in luck. I just used a heli-coil kit on my head studs, which you can buy at any auto store. Its very simple to do, I rethreaded two holes in 20 minutes, Very easy, just try not to use power tools and make sure to get the right size drill to clean up the old threads. I found this link also with an actual video of your dilemma, Spark plugs, and its pretty much the same tools, a drill and tap, and then these coil looking parts that come with every kit.
