Lookin for gearbox

Hey Gearbox I seen on here a while back about the proper way to clean our EGR valve on the 2001-'05 Civic's/EL's. Was wonderin if u can can post up the DIY for that and the BEST carb cleaner to use on it. The PCV valve u also had that AND the filter in the rear of the car. I think the EVAP canister filter its called. Correct me if I'am wrong. Thanks a MILLION Gearbox.

Re: Lookin for gearbox

Gearbox thanks a million. Now hear my headache lol. How in the world did u get off that EGR valve? I got off only 1 nut and that was on the left side of the EGR valve, I then lost that nut down in there somewhere lol. Had to run to Acura to get a nut. I dunno how u done it but man I couldn't get that sum bitch off for my life. Oh and another question. I called up Honda to see how much the EVAP canister filter would cost and they tellin me I have to buy it WHOLE. If thats so is there any shops (e.g. NAPA) I can go to and pick one up?

Re: Lookin for gearbox

well yeah you need the whole black piece. filter inside is not removable, i cut open the case with a knife. honda is the only place that has it. as for the egr, you need a socket 6 inch extension and then go in at an angle from the top.

Re: Lookin for gearbox

Gearbox ur gonna kill me. I got a 2001 Acura EL which should be the same as the EX but for some reason when I was lookin for that PCV valve to clean I can't find it. If its the part I found that looked like one, there was no nut to unbolt at all. Is it possible if u can show a pic of urs to show me where its located. Im a nOObe lol

Re: Lookin for gearbox

My engine is a D17A2 so I would assume. I been googling for pix and I got one pic showing that the PCV valve is at the back of the engine near the oil filter. A next site showing it above the engine on where it says Honda or Honda Vtec on the cover. I hate bein a nOObe

Re: Lookin for gearbox

on d17a2 its way down on the right side of the throttle body with a small tube going from the intake mani to the engine with the pcv valve in there. it has a small metal box around it too.
