Huge Gas issue

When I fill my car up it smells like gas the next morning. And on top of the my millage has decreased down from 260miles per tank to like 160 per tank. Which blows cuz its a civic.

Im thinking there's a hole in the tank. Duh. But people are telling me that my gas cap is bad. there's no way that's the problem.

I just dont want to llift my car in the garage to switch gas tanks completely, considering it is lowered.

is there any other solutions?
Any help would be awesome.

take it 2 a mechanic to take a look.. might b sumthin minor. do u have spots on the floor where u park? n if so.. touch it and smell it.. if it smells like gas then u have a leak... nowsearch the leak by looking under the to get a ruff image from where the leak is at.. and u should b covered under warranty for it from the dealer...

Re: Huge Gas issue

if you smell gas its leaking from somewhere either fuel pump area, lines, or tank. check under the hood. see if you can figure where it smells from.

Re: Huge Gas issue

I had a similar problem when I filled the tank all the way full in my 2005 Civic. It turned out to be the o-ring gasket that seals the fuel pump to the gas tank was going bad.

The reason it only smelled on a full tank is because the fuel pump is mounted on the top of the gas tank.

You might want to check that out. Hope this helps.
