I want to swap instead of boosting my r18. and yes i know its going to cost me more than if i had just gotten a si but i didnt have a choice in what i got my parents bought the car. And its to late to trade and still get it for cheaper. So whats the rate for a new k20z3 ( plust installation cause im a noob) and how much do you think i could sell my r18 that has 26k on it? Oh and will that engine work with my 5 speed transmition? Or the price on any good k series that would fit in my car.

you're not able to get an si because your parents bought the car? yet you have the money to BUY a new engine, and then pay someone to put it in?...

cost of a new car
+ cost of a new engine
+ cost of paying someone to put it in

is cheaper than just getting a used (similar year as yours) Si ???

looking at it like that, you might as well talk to your parents, and trade in your car FOR an Si...and then you can just pay your parents the difference

i don't have the money for the swap now. It would be pretty long time before i had the money to swap the engine. i'm talking like 2 years.

well, engine costs would be different in 2 years...depending on the economy and all...

so any answers you receive now, wil be null and void, more or less. but i do recall a k20a being around $5500...

may have dropped in price with the arrival of the k20z

I think you should just get a used Si in 2 years, instead of a swap. Trade your car in, and work out the difference. I wouldn't bother with a swap.

2005-2006 RSX K20Z3
2006 Civic SI - K20Z1

K20A is overrated esp the price stick with the USDM and save the extra money for goodies. I would listen to Phuviano. Get a new car in 2 years.

The 2005-2006 RSX Type S uses the K20z1, is the k20z3 for the base/premium or something?

EDIT - You also got your 2002-2004 engines wrong, they use the K20a3 for base/premium and k20a2 for Type S.

I thought we were referring to the type S anyway. W/e the z3 or z1 one of them is drive by wire I know that's true. Get better info on K20.org

Edit for Dex, the K20Z1 is the 2005-2006 RSX Type S, 2002-2004 RSX Type S is the K20A2 and the K20Z3 is drive by wire for the 2006 Civic SI.

first im pretty sure the k20z3 is a 2006 and up motor but as far as swapping one in your vic bad idea youll save money on the a2 as well as alot of headache and more more money trying to put the z3 in. first the whole drive by wire sys is completely different so unless you have a whole crap ton of money stick to the A2!!!

the funny part is that in 2yrs you can just buy a used type S for $8-10k. There already down to $13-16k now.

I learned the hard way, not to mod new cars you bought. You lose too much resale value when you mod them. Just buy a used one for cheap and mod that. You don't have to worry about resale values or voiding your warranty.
