Please take a look at this picture (borrowed for Cleft_Asunder - thanks).
Can anyone tell me what the part is, that is circled in red? I was tinkering and I think I broke the electrical connection.

most likely ECT sensor. i know on the 7thgens, we have two in the same area, ones ect and the other is fan switch. but the ect sensor is very important for running the car properly. i would be sure it works.

the fan switch is the one that is on the thermostat bell housing. The ECT is the one that is on top of the water neck standing straight up next to the EGR Valve fro the 7th gen.
Oh **** I didn't realize that wasn't a 7thgen I just looked directly at the thermostat housing. Yeah that should be the ECT for the 6th gen
