AEM air filter in 6th gen?
Edit: Damn, I ****ed up, I mean K&N.
Do you guys think it's worth it to go for one of these? They are re-usable from what I know. There was a demo set up at autozone with a ping-pong ball measuring airflow. It was comparing AEM with the FRAM filter. Now I don't normally play ping-pong but the AEM made the ball shoot up considerably higher.
So there must be SOME performance gain...

just buy for half off on ebay. i wouldnt pay full retail for one. You won't feel a real difference. you might feel a little bit more high end power, but thats it. If your filter is still pretty new, then just wait till it needs to be replace before you get the filter.

Re: AEM air filter in 6th gen?
here's my take. i had one in my 7th gen for a couple months. the old filter was dirty as ****, and i noticed zero change in power with the k&n. i ended up selling for about half what i paid for it, two months later, on ebay. i'm rocking an aem short ram intake now, which also does little to nothing as far as power goes, but it sounds cool. i had heard somewhere on this site that the k&n only has like 94% filtration efficiency, and doesn't meet manufacturer's specs for taking enough **** out of the air your engine is sucking in. were i you, i'd take the $55 you're prolly going to spend on the k&n, get on ebay and pick up a decent short ram for about $100. the new aem dry flow filter is cleanable, and takes more crap out of the air. i personally think it sounds decent, tho i've heard injen and/or weapon r sound better. you have the additional benefit of not having to take 8 or 9 screws out of the airbox to take the filter out and clean it, just one clamp to hook the filter to the intake pipe, and the dry flow filter doesn't get oiled after you clean it. somewhere on this site is a "rate your intake" thread, with ratings for fit, quality, sound, ease of installation, etc. I'd check that out before buying an intake.

not worth the horrible filtration, not to mention it voids the factory warranty. get an aem dryflow, or an oiled foam filter those are the best.

dry flow i dont think so, but you may as well get a paper filter like napa gold which is the same thing. only advantage of aem is its reusable, but paper filters are only $15 once a year. i think amsoil makes oiled foam for our cars.
they have something new, its a dry filter that even beats regular paper.

Great, thanks! As for dry filters, do you trust anything in specific that I can get at autozone? I'm talking more on the inexpensive side, since I would rather spend considerable money on a short ram.
