blacking out tail lights?
ok so i searched around a lil on here and google and some other places for the spray used to black out your tail lights. im not talking about the inside but the spray thats used to black it out. for example black car with blacked out lights all looks black until u hit the brakes or turn or something durr.
easy question just getting frustrated that i cannot find the spray online or a place to buy it. so what kind of spray is it and where can i get it?

Re: blacking out tail lights?
yup yup. Just like spray painting.
Make sure you clean the surface well before you spray. And when you wash your car, use something soft to wash it down with. When I got into an accident, I brought my car into Honda to get it fixed and when they were all done, they washed it.
They used one of those long handle broom looking p.o.s.'s and put swirls/chips in the right light. So now the paint is chipping off pretty good. I'll gonna have to go back and re-do it now.
Looks sharp IMO, if it's done right... I also have my headlights done.

I wouldn't do it.. if you get in an accident w/ someone hitting you in the rear.. you may still be at fault/may not receive from insurance b/c of the tint.. just a thought
Re: blacking out tail lights?
Yeah insurance places are a bunch of crooks. But I like the way it looks. I got a ticket because of them though... VA blows.

Re: blacking out tail lights?
Yeah it all depends on how much you use. If you use a whole can, it's going to be straight black. I used about half a can for my headlights and they came out darkkkk. I can't remember how many I used for my tails. Now that I think about it though, I have after market tails that have black housing, and DIY headlights with black housing. So maybe I didn't have to use as much due to that. Just use thin coats and look at the lights from different angles. Just because you look at it head on and it's extremely light, it may be dark when you look at it at a bit of an angle. Some more info. for you.
Re: blacking out tail lights?
you can also just buy window tint film and cover your lights like that im gonna do it tonight so ill try to get some pics for ya i got some 5% tint so well see how dark it comes out

Re: blacking out tail lights?
Tried tint myself...didn't work for me either. 54321r, there aren't really any threads about this, so don't sweat it.
I just ordered a couple cans myself, not for my car but for my bros truck.
driveitlikeyoustoleit, you say you used a half a can on ur headlights, do you mean each or on both you only used half a can. I only ordered two cans to do two tails and a third brake light....

Use VHT NITESHADES and VHT NITESHADES only
*** WHEN WET SANDING BARELY , BARELY SAND THE TAILLIGHTS JUST ENOUGH TO SEE AN EVEN MARK. DO NOT SAND THEM UNTIL THEY ARE DULL.
no matter how much clear coat you apply after your tint coats , they will turn out dull dull dull. Screwed my buddies Grand am up bcuz of that b4 I did mine.
Pictures dont justify how glossy they actually are. They also light up just the same as b4 if u dont believe me then ur a fool

BUY YOUR SELF SOME ^_^

I meant for both. Two cans will be more than enough for what you're using them for. I was bored and used the spray for the 3rd brake light after doing the headlights... I still have some left in the can. For as little of a can as it is, it goes a long way. Good luck with it. I plan on posting pics of mine soon.

Re: blacking out tail lights?
I got two different types of spray. They both worked. I got mad props at the Nopi show in Dallas last month. They came out awesome. If you want to see any pics go to www.myspace.com/alex2533
Re: blacking out tail lights?
Def go with the NIGHT SHADES. Unlike a precut film...you can dictate how dark you want it. Just do it one thin layer at atime.
The examples above are REALLY dark. I was worried about legal issues etc so I only went with like 2 lights coats and it came out like this. I think I could have went darker...I no longer have that car so it doesn't matter.
