H.I.D Questions....

Okay guys, i've got some HiD's in my stock housings. Yeah, they look good or whatever, but I want to jump to projectors. Could I "throw" some Valeo projectors in my stock housings? OR if I purchased some TYC projectors would my HiD still get the right output. I am not sure if the TYC are made for HiD. I guess there is also the option of buying the TYC and putting Valeo(or other) HiD proj's in there. Let Me Know!!! and thanks

no the tyc has halogen projector, terrible for hid. but you can get a tyc headlight and swap the stock projector with a valeo, very easy and it fits right in without cutting.

nnot all tycs...im not sure about teh vic but on the 98-02 accords, ece valeos dont fit on all....theres two gens for teh accord...but they look the same...just the projector and internal is a lil diff...

as for hid, you wont be able to fit it in ur projector or any projector for that matter because

1. you have a h4, tycs are H1, and valeos are d2s
2. ur ballast system wont be usable unless you get a d2s/pnp adaptor

TYC + valeo D2S = easy conversion
you won't be able to use your current H4 HID though as sl33pyriceboi said. i've got TYC's that i'm putting TSX projectors in, but there's a lot of cutting and fab work to do. valeos fit without cutting. you could put valeos or any other projector in your stock housings, but you'll have to cut them, mount projectors and then seal them back up. not something you can do in a day. i'm going on 2 weeks so far with my retro and i'm thinking at least another week. i'm probably going to sell the valeo D2S projectors i have. they're sweet with the clear purple lenses.

if you did the valeos in TYC's then yes. that's still a lot more that 1 day. actually, tyc and valeo could be done in a day and a day for mounting/aiming.

true, but not all tyc's will fit the valeos...

they first have to be ECE....and second, you dont have a 100% chance that they'll fit.....TYC (for every car) come in different generations...and one one of those generations will fit (oldest one)....ive done about 3 tycs with the valeo swap.....1 a civic 99 si, and 2 6thgen accords... civic fit.....but only 1 of the 6thgen fit.......

btw, TYCs for a 7thgencivic are not very hard to put in.... those ebay tripple style projectors are hard as hell...by far.......

^those ones...hardest **** every.........so tight......i literally had only mm to work with....

sorry, i keep forgetting this isn't 7th gen only anymore. yeah, my original comments were based on a 7th gen TYC housing. and NO they don't have to be ECE. mine are DOT D2S and they fit the 7th gen just fine. if i can't get my TSX retro completed, i'm going to fall back on the clear purple DOT valeos in a new set of 7th gen TYC housings. the TSX is a wider beam and slightly more intense, but the valeos are still great projectors.

buy OEM stuff, not cheap kits. i got my Matsushita ballasts for around $175, new D2S 85122+ bulbs for $55. that's not much more than the cheap kits and its quality parts.

good point. forgot to cover this. yeah, you don't want to run the ballasts off your stock wiring. they pull tons of amps while starting up. some people have burned up their stock wiring or will keep blowing fuses. you can get them from here suvlights.com Universal Wire Harness (9003/H4, 9004/HB1, 9005, 9007, H7/H1, H7/H7) i'm building my own custom harness though because i haven't found a commercially available one that does everything i want. with that one above, you have no output for high beams. if you get the TYC's, then you'll have seperate high beams. also, i want my low's to stay on with the high beams and the fogs to turn off with the high beams (illegal to have 6 driving lights on at once). since no one has a harness to do this, i'm making my own.

i haven't been able to find the sonars on ebay for 7th gen. where did you get your? how would you rate them against the TYC's? if these TSX's don't turn out, i'm going to put the valeo's in. once i got my new bulbs, they look pretty good compared to the TSX. especially if you put the TSX lense on them.

there's none on ebay for 7th gen right now. you got pics of your retro? i'd like to see how you fit TSX's in there. i'm trying to get them in the TYC's, but i've had to cut a ton and now have to come up with a mounting method.
