whats the lightest rims out there?

Hey peeps, I noticed that some of you guys upgrading your wheels to 17's notice performance decrease. I want to upgrade my wheels so it looks better than the stock. Though I want it so its the same mass as the stock wheels. Any recommendations? Probably a 16inch with low pro tires? Whats the lightest rims??

if Im not mistaken Racing Hart makes the lightest 17's. They are white aluminium alloy and I believe they are like 7lbs apiece. They look pretty tight to me, but to each his own.

I am looking at the light weight rims also. Not the I am a millionaire and have more money than I know what do with light weight rims. I am talking about these:

Rota Slipstream 12.9lbs
Konig Helium 10.9lbs
Konig Greenlights 10.9lbs

The konigs only come in 15x6.5 and the rotas go from 15 to 16 I am pretty sure. The Group Buy Center has the konigs for 385 shipped for 4 wheels and the slipstream for like 450 shipped for a set of 4. The konig heliums are out of stock for several weeks though.

I can't decide whether to get the konigs or the rotas. Hope I helped ya out a little.

Oops! Almost forgot to mention something about tires. Remember a 17 in lightweight wheel will be more than offset by a big heavy 17in tire. If you are looking for looks and to shred some rotational mass, stay with the 15s.

Mbow: isn't tires for bigger rim has less rubber? i am not sure if i'm right, but I always thought that lower profile tire has less weight if width stay the same...

It depends on the width of the rim and tire chosen. Generally, the bigger the wheel, the heavier the tire. Plus, a tire with a smaller side wall, especially on the 17s, is going to seriously reduce ride quality. Although, big wide tires improve handling tremendously. But for me, I know that great handling gets you into trouble as you go through turns quicker and thus, the higher speed means serious damage if you leave the pavement.

As far as the high dollar rims, I will never understand the reasoning behing putting serveral thousand doller rims on a 15-16k car. Makes no frickken sense to me. Heck, with the money that some people spend on rims, they could have bough a nicer car.

Yeah but usually, not always though, some "nicer" cars are Heavier! If you take your car to the track, weight is everything!

I want a spoon sports!!! 17k a set? Does anyone have pics of their 16inch rims installed? Maybe the spoon rims!

I heard if wheels have bigger diameter as the stock, you're basically eating alot of gas with it. That would also include tire width and compound. I'm assuming smaller tires = less gas

thanks for the input!
