Radar detector install

Anyone have a DIY for wiring a radar detector through the dash? Not the DIY for doing it through the above lights near the mirror. I know it was here somewhere but searching didn't work

thanks

i swore there was a thread way back about this but i can't find it
basically, you're gonna use the same wire but run it through the door pillar and down around to the fuse box or cig lighter. that's the best i can do for you know. i'm gonna do it eventually

That sounds right but I don't want to rip up my car without a DIY if I can help it... maybe I could make my own DIY if no one can help.....

it's super easy to run the wires up through your door pillar, that's not a problem. the one thing that is deterring me from doing the full install is the wire splicing, i don't know what i'm doing with that. plus i have a remote mute button on the lighter plug, and i don't want to lose that. so as soon as i figure out a way to hard wire it and keep the mute, i'll do it.

I am thinking you have a passport? I have one with the mute button. I bought a kit from them that allows you to hard wire the detector and remote mount the button. But yeah I ran a piggyback fuse off the fuse panel under the dash and used that for power on, can greound to any screw up in there, and the run up into the drivers door dash, a tringle panel pops out and easy access to lower part of pillar, can run wire along front edge of dash from there. Peace

You can buy a kit that plugs into the fuse for the radio at best buy for like $10. I am going to run my wire through the front window air vent and down. I have it, I will be putting it in soon. I can try and take pics if you want.
