Hydraulic Trunk/Hood Lifters?
Hydraulic Trunk/Hood Lifters?
What's up, I just got done installing some new Infinity Reference series 9X9's in the rear deck and I had to take out the small bars that traverse the top of the trunk and allow it to open easily. I tried to take a cutting torch and bend them to make it fit and that worked for about 30 seconds until the steel, which apparently had cooled too fast cuz I put it under water, snapped on both bars.
But anyways, I was wonding if anyone had any hydraulic openers for the trunk. I don't really mean hydraulic, but I mean those things that some cars have on the hood that automatically raises it up. Can't recall what they are called, but if anyone has a link or sumthing, holla back. I would like to try that install on the hood and the trunk if possible.
Thanks, Jay

Ok, thanks man that should help out a lot! I couldn't find anything when I searched, but I couldn't remember what exactly to call them.
Ok, so I could do this but I also have a lot of sound deadener on my trunklid and the rear of the trunk, so it weighs about 10-15 pounds more than usual. Any ideas on how many pounds of pressure for the shocks I should get?

I bought 60 pound shocks. I thought they might be a bit much since the DIY recommended 40-50, but they worked perfectly. Where ever I lift the trunk it stays and doesn't rise or fall. I don't know what everybody else used, but I would recommend 60. I have a spoiler if that matters........

I used the 60 lbs ones on mine and they work just perfect and I have no spolier. It was not hard to do at all either, I would highly suggest doing it if you want larger speakers in the back.
Just get a trunk spring removal tool from Honda first, they gave me one because when they order a spoiler they get one each time for the new springs so they should have a few around.
